Actor Lakshya has tasted fame and appreciation with his performances in his first two films — Kill and The Ba**ds of Bollywood.* However, his journey before his debut wasn’t smooth. The actor, who began his career on television, gained popularity with Porus. After the show ended, he started auditioning for films and eventually signed a three-film deal with Karan Johar. However, two out of the three films were shelved after their announcements.
Lakshya on two films getting shelved
In a recent podcast with Raj Shamani, Lakshya spoke about how he dealt with that difficult phase when his films Dostana 2 and Bedhadak got shelved. He shared that when his films got shelved, he didn’t blame himself or others. Instead, he kept working on his craft — focusing on voice training, workouts, film-watching, and scene readings.
“I was blank. I was numb to it. I just let it happen. Luckily, I never had self-doubt. I genuinely felt nothing was set up for me. I had no plans of becoming an actor; I just happened to become one. The only thing I knew was hard work. So why should I stop doing that? That’s what’s made me. Who do I blame? God? Or Karan Johar? I can’t blame anyone, na. The film got shelved, and that’s it. For some reason, I had the self-belief that it was happening for a reason. Tables would turn one day. There wasn’t a single day throughout Covid when I didn’t work hard,” Lakshya shared.
Lakshya also revealed that after Porus ended, he was offered another television show with a lucrative Rs 20,000–Rs 25,000 per day salary. “My father said, ‘That’s a lot of money. I’ve never seen that kind of money in my whole life. Just grab it.’ But there was a stubbornness within me. Why couldn’t I become a movie star? What do I lack? This one’s doing it, that one’s doing it — so why couldn’t I?”
Lakshya’s action-packed entry
After two shelved films, Lakshya made his debut with the action-packed Kill, produced by Dharma Productions. Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, the film also stars Raghav Juyal, Ashish Vidyarthi, Harsh Chhaya, Tanya Maniktala, and Abhishek Chauhan. The film opened to positive reviews and collected ₹47.25 crore worldwide against a ₹40 crore budget. He was later seen in the Netflix series The Ba***ds of Bollywood, marking Aryan Khan’s directorial debut.
