Mumbaikars woke up to sunny skies and hot, humid conditions on Sunday. Both the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Colaba and Santacruz observatories recorded dry and humid weather.
According to the latest Mumbai weather updates from IMD, Colaba recorded a maximum temperature of 34.8 degrees Celsius, 1.3 degrees Celsius above normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 26.4 degrees Celsius. Relative humidity was measured at 86 per cent.
In Santacruz, the mercury rose slightly higher, with a maximum temperature of 35.5 degrees Celsius, 1.5 degrees Celsius above normal, and a minimum of 24.6 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels were recorded at 75 per cent.
Despite the relatively high humidity, no rainfall was observed at either observatory.
City`s AQI in `moderate` category
On October 19, the Central Pollution Control Board’s SAMEER app reported in its latest Mumbai weather updates that the city’s air quality remained in the `moderate` category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 150 at 10:03 AM.
As per the SAMEER app dashboard, many areas across Mumbai showed `moderate` AQI. Worli recorded `good` air quality with an AQI of 99. Borivali recorded `good` air quality with an AQI of 100.
Ghatkopar, Sion and Andheri recorded `moderate` air quality, with an AQI of 158, 135 and 138, respectively.
Meanwhile, Colaba, Deonar and Bandra Kurla Complex recorded `poor` air quality, with an AQI of 202, 209 and 296, respectively.
According to data from the SAMEER app, Navi Mumbai recorded air quality in the `moderate` category with an AQI of 148, while Thane registered a `good` AQI of 96.
The air quality index from 0 to 100 is considered `good`, 100 to 200 `moderate`, 200 to 300 `poor`, 300 to 400 `very poor` and from 400 to 500 or above `severe`.
Meanwhile, Delhi on Sunday recorded a minimum temperature of 20.6 degrees Celsius, 2.2 notches above the seasonal average, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Relative humidity stood at 71 per cent at 8.30 am. The IMD has forecast mainly clear skies during the day. The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 33 degrees Celsius. Delhi`s Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the `poor` category, with a reading of 284 at 9 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
