In May, rumours were rife that Shraddha Kapoor had exited director Rahi Anil Barve’s Pahadpangira, which was to be produced by Ektaa R Kapoor. Five months on, there appears to be an update on the project. mid-day has learnt that Shraddha is a part of the film, which reportedly explores themes of feminism against the backdrop of the Sati practice. The actor is likely to not only headline the movie, but also be involved in a creative capacity.
Barve apparently plans to begin Pahadpangira’s shoot after completing work on his Netflix series Rakt Bramhand. A source reveals, “Shraddha, who will begin shooting Laxman Utekar’s next in November, will finalise her commitment to this project after her schedule for 2026 is drawn up. If things go as planned, the film could start by mid-2026. Pahadpangira is a dark fantasy rooted in myth and folklore. She is taken by the story’s originality and believes it can be expanded into a franchise. Besides fronting it, she may serve as a creative producer on it.”
mid-day reached out to Barve, who didn’t respond till press time.
