Thane Police issues traffic diversions for road works on Gaimukh Ghat section

Thane Police on Friday issued traffic diversions for road works on the Gaimukh Ghat section in the district and issued alternative routes for motorists.

In an official traffic notification, the Thane Police said that the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation has announced that road improvement and resurfacing work will be carried out on the Thane-Ghodbunder Highway (State Highway No. 42) at Gaimukh Ghat from 10 pm on October 11, 2025 to 12 am on October 14, 2025.

During this period, heavy and large vehicles will not be allowed to travel on the affected section of the highway, the police said.

It said that to manage traffic smoothly, the police have planned the following diversion routes for heavy vehicles-

Ghodbunder to Thane direction-

Vehicles from Palghar-Virar side:

– Take the route via Shirsat Phata – Parol – Akloli (Ganeshpuri) – Ambadi Road

Vehicles from Palghar-Vasai side:

– Take the route via Chinchoti – Kaman – Kharbao – Anjur Phata – Bhiwandi

Vehicles from Western Express Highway (Mumbai/Kashimira):

– Use Versova Bridge – Gujarat Highway – Shirsat Phata / Chinchoti route

Thane to Ghodbunder direction-

Heavy vehicles from Thane/Mumbai side:

– Entry will be restricted at Y Junction/Kapurbawdi

– Alternate route: Kharegaon Toll – Mankoli – Anjur Phata

“Light vehicles and essential services will be allowed to use the route as usual,” the notification said.

Police have requested the motorists to cooperate during the period and have urged to use the alternative routes to avoid congestion and delays during their travel.
