Actress Deepika Padukone was caught in a controversy after the makers of Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2 announced that they have dropped her from the film. Earlier this year, her exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit had also grabbed significant attention. Several reports claimed that her demands, including eight-hour workdays, a high salary, and a share in the film’s profits, did not sit well with director Vanga, which led to a controversial fallout. Now, filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan seemingly took a dig at Deepika’s reported ‘8-hour workday’ clause in her latest vlog once again.
Farah Khan takes a dig at Deepika Padukone
In her latest vlog, Farah Khan was seen visiting Bollywood actor Rohit Saraf’s house with her cook Dilip. The actor shared that his mother appeared on camera for the first time on Farah’s vlog, and that she had made them wait for a year for this. Farah jokingly replied, “Haan itna time toh Deepika Padukone ne nahi lagaya mujhe haan bolne mein.” Hearing this, Farah’s cook Dilip asked when Deepika Padukone would come to their vlog, to which Farah cheekily replied, saying she only shoots for 8 hours now, and doesn’t have time to come on their vlog.
Dilip asked, “Deepika Padukone ma’am kab aayengi humare show main (when will Deepika ma’am come to our show)?” Farah replied, “Jiss din tu gaon jaayega naa uss din aayegi (the day you go to your village).” She further added, “Deepika Padukone ab sirf 8 ghanta shoot karti hai, usko show pe aane ka time nahi hai (She now shoots only for 8 hours, she doesn’t have time to come to our show).”
Deepika Padukone`s controversial exit
Deepika welcomed her daughter Dua in September 2024. Following her daughter`s birth, reports claimed that the new mom is seeking to balance her work and personal life by reducing her working hours. In May, reports claimed that she had exited Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit.
Meanwhile, a few days ago, Vyjayanthi Movies confirmed Deepika’s departure from the Kalki 2898 AD sequel via an official note on X, which read, “This is to officially announce that deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future projects.”
