Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and deputy CMs — Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar on Wednesday visited the flood-hit regions in state following heavy rains and assured immediate relief to the affected farmers.
CM Fadnavis visited Darfal village in Solapur district on Wednesday to assess the damage caused by ongoing floods in the region. Several areas across the state have been facing flood-like conditions due to continuous heavy rainfall, prompting urgent rescue and relief operations, according to the PTI.
Eknath Shinde said on Wednesday that the government would provide all possible assistance to rain-hit farmers in the state.
He was speaking to reporters after visiting flood-affected pockets in the Dharashiv district in the Marathwada region along with Shiv Sena leader Tanaji Sawant. During the tour, Shinde interacted with farmers and flood-affected people.
Unprecedented rains in the arid Marathwada, which comprises eight districts, over the past four days had claimed at least eight lives, marooned villages, damaged houses and flattened crops on more than 30,000 hectares, officials had said on Tuesday. Dharashiv is a part of the region.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed since Monday night in Beed, Dharashiv, and Solapur districts to assist with relief efforts.
Earlier this week, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also toured the flood-affected regions in Solapur. He inspected damaged crops and interacted directly with farmers to understand the challenges they are facing. Pawar instructed local officials to provide immediate support and ensure a coordinated response.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ajit Pawar said, “I began my inspection of the flood situation from Korti in Karmala taluka. The continuous heavy rains have caused major damage to crops. I personally visited the fields and spoke with the farmers to understand the extent of the loss.”
He added that local authorities have been instructed to plan thoroughly and implement relief measures promptly, ensuring that affected farmers receive support without delay.
“Our government stands firmly behind our farmer brothers,” he said.
To support affected farmers, the Maharashtra government has announced a financial assistance package worth Rs 1,339 crore, aimed at compensating those who suffered crop losses due to heavy rains between June and August 2025, government sources confirmed, the ANI reported.
