Navratri 2025: Thane Police issues traffic diversions, check details here

Thane Police in Maharashtra on Wednesday announced traffic diversions in parts of the city ahead of the Navratri 2025.

In an official traffic notification, the Thane Police said that the diversions in selective place will come into force from September 22 and will remain in place till October 2025. The traffic restrictions will be in effect every day from 4 pm to 12 am.

It said that heavy crowds are expected near Bhavani Chowk and Tembhinaka in Thane for Durga idol darshan during Navratri 2025 celebrations. 

Navratri is one of the most celebrated festivals in parts of Maharashtra. It is celebrated for nine days. These nine days are dedicated to the worship of the nine forms of Goddess Durga, symbolising the victory of good over evil.

The traffic notification was issued by Pankaj Shirsat, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Thane Police.

Traffic restrictions and diversions-

Thane Station to Civil Hospital (via Tower Naka): Entry closed. Vehicles including buses must go via Gadkari Circle – Dagdi School – Almeida Chowk.

Gadkari Circle to Tower Naka: Entry closed at Perfect Driving School. Vehicles to use Dagdi School – Almeida Chowk route.

Charai via Edulji Road to Bhavani Chowk: Entry closed near Fair Apartments. Use Dhobi Ali Cross – Dhobi Ali Chowk – Dr Sonumiya Road – Civil Hospital.

Court Naka via Anand Ashram Road to Tower Naka: Entry closed at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Statue. Diversion via Jambhli Naka.

Dagdi School to Tembhinaka via Veer Savarkar Road: Entry closed at Dandekar Jewellers. Use Uttam Moreshwar Road – Dhobi Ali Cross – Dr Sonumiya Road – Civil Hospital.

Minatai Thackeray Chowk to Tembhinaka (via Civil Hospital Corner): Entry closed. Diversion via GPO – Court Naka – Dr Ambedkar Statue – Jambhli Naka.

No parking zones-

No vehicle parking is allowed on both sides of the road areas including Dagdi School, St. John the Baptist High School (Old Mumbai-Agra Road), Dandekar Jewellers, Uttam Moreshwar Angre Marg, Ahilyadevi Garden, Dr Sonumiya Road to Civil Hospital Corner, the police notification said.

The police have urged citizens to cooperate and follow the diversions to avoid traffic congestion and ensure safety during the upcoming festive period.
