Aman Pant’s discography is diverse, with him moving seamlessly across films, OTT projects, and advertising. The composer, who has scored the theme of The Great Indian Kapil Show, has now stepped into the world of Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 3. With Bhai Vakeel Hai, Pant says he wanted to create a song that captured the mood of North India. “This track carries a North Indian, especially Delhi, vibe. The phrase ‘Fikar na kar, tera bhai vakeel hai’ instantly gives you that confident energy that Delhiites use in their day-to-day banter. The brief was clear — create a track that feels like an organic part of the film. The lyrics and mood all tie back to the film’s context, so it doesn’t feel like an insert song,” says the composer.
For Bhai Vakeel Hai, lyricist and singer Akhil, Haryana rapper KD, and Pant went behind the mic, each bringing their individual texture to the song. The composer elaborates, “Bhai Vakeel Hai has three distinct voices, but we made sure the transitions felt seamless, not jumpy. Each brought their flavour, but the track has that uniformity you can groove to.” The result? A song that instantly struck a chord with leading man Kumar as well as director Subhash Kapoor. “It clicked in the first go,” remembers Pant, still unbelieving how the number required almost no changes. “We didn’t have to re-do or rework it. The scratch version itself became the final one.”
A still from the film
He is looking at a packed year ahead, and considers himself fortunate to have scored for “incredible” projects like Citadel: Honey Bunny (2024) and Guns & Gulaabs (2023). But there’s one dream collaboration he is hoping for. “I haven’t recorded yet with Sonu ji [Nigam]. Being a ’90s kid, I’ve grown up listening to him, and I’d love to compose something that brings out his magic.”
Three biggies on his plate
Aman Pant has an interesting line-up ahead. He has composed the opening theme for the third season of Manoj Bajpayee’s ‘The Family Man’, and the scores for Rajkummar Rao’s ‘Toaster’ and Kunal Kemmu’s ‘Single Papa’.
