Palghar: Mob thrashes `kidnappers` after children raise alarm

A mob thrashed four persons, including three men posing as transgenders, on Tuesday while accusing them of attempting to kidnap children in an auto rickshaw in Vasai taluka of Palghar district of Maharashtra, police said, reported the PTI.

The incident occurred in Kuranwadi area of Khochivade village, when three girls and a boy were walking home from school along the main road.

“Four individuals, including three men posing as transgender and a rickshaw driver, allegedly tried to intercept the children and threatened them with a knife. The children resisted the attempt and raised an alarm,” a police official said, according to the PTI.

Hearing screams of the children, villagers rushed to the spot and thrashed all four suspects before handing them over to the police, he said.

Police have registered a case of kidnapping and recorded statements of the children and the accused, the news agency reported.

Stopped from jumping queue, man assaults hospital receptionist

Meanwhile, in an another incident, a 25-year-old female receptionist at a private hospital in Maharashtra`s Kalyan area in Thane district was allegedly assaulted by a man after she refusal to allow him to walk into the doctor`s chamber without an appointment, police said on Tuesday, as per the PTI.

“Based on the victim`s complaint, we have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for assault, using obscene language, and outraging the modesty of a woman,” a police official said, the news agency reported on Tuesday.

A viral video shows the suspect who was later identified as Gokul Jha, kicking the receptionist and dragging her by her hair across the reception floor of the paediatrics hospital on Monday evening.

The woman was rescued by relatives of other patients.

The video was shared on social media and has since gone viral.

The accused was angry as the receptionist didn`t allow him and a woman accompanying him with a baby to jump the queue and meet the doctor who was busy with other patients, the FIR stated.

The police said that the investigations were underway and no arrest has been made so far.
