Technical snag in Mumbai Metro lines 2A, 7 leaves passengers stranded

Mumbai Metro Yellow Line-2A (Dahisar East–DN Nagar) and Red Line-7 (Dahisar East–Andheri East) services were hit by major delays on Sunday evening, leaving several passengers stranded at Andheri West with no movement of trains and little communication from Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited. The services, which had been disrupted owing to a signalling issue, have now been restored.

Earlier, commuters took to social media to complain that trains had been stranded at various stations.

Commuter Rajas Pitale said there was a prolonged delay on Metro Line-2A, adding that his train had been stuck at Mogra Station for over 30 minutes, with “signs of a technical snag flashing inside the coach”.

Another commuter, Jayesh Rane, said, “There has been chaos at Andheri West metro station and no proper communication by metro authorities.”

A third commuter posted that services between Gundavali and Andheri West were “fully delayed both sides”, adding that the train at Kandivali West had been stationed at the platform for more than five minutes with no update.

Commuter Manoj Bhawnani added, “Massive delay on Mumbai Metro 2A due to an unknown glitch. No announcement regarding delays on platforms or even before buying tickets.”

Following numerous complaints from passengers, MMMOCL issued a service update on X: “Due to a temporary technical issue, services on Line 2A and Line 7 are running with minor delays. We regret the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience. Our teams are working at full speed to restore normal service at the earliest.”

MMMOCL had initially described the disruption as a “minor problem”, angering commuters, before revising its statement to refer to “temporary technical delays”.

Around 9 pm, MMMOCL said that the services have been restored.
