The Maharashtra Raj Bhavan has been officially renamed as ‘Maharashtra Lok Bhavan’ in line with guidelines issued by the Union government. Maharashtra and Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat has directed the Raj Bhavan Secretariat to implement the change with immediate effect.
Governor Devvrat described the decision as a “visionary step” aimed at making the Raj Bhavan more people-centric, transparent and deeply aligned with public welfare.
He said the newly renamed Lok Bhavan should evolve beyond being merely the Governor’s residence and office, and emerge as a vibrant centre for dialogue and engagement with citizens, students, researchers, farmers, civil society groups and various sections of society across the state.
The Governor emphasised that the core purpose of the name change is to position Lok Bhavan as a strong bridge of service, cooperation and communication between the government and the people.
He added that Lok Bhavan would not remain restricted to constitutional duties alone but would stay sensitive and connected to the hopes, aspirations and everyday concerns of society, thereby fulfilling the true spirit of a “Lok Bhavan”.
