Mumbai is expected to see mainly clear skies on Monday, with maximum and minimum temperatures around 31 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
On 01-12-2025, the minimum temperatures recorded in Mumbai were 22.0 degrees Celsius at Colaba (CLB) and 16.6 degrees Celsius at Santacruz (SCZ), with no rainfall reported (0.0 mm), according to IMD Mumbai.
The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stands at 110 today, classified as moderate by the Sameer app. This level may cause breathing discomfort for people with lung, heart, or asthma-related conditions. Local AQI readings (MPCB) are: Kurla – 101, Powai – 71, Vile Parle West – 110, Borivali East – 94, Worli – 92, Sion – 52, Colaba – 58, Mazagaon – 95, Borivali West – 108.
Meanwhile, Delhi-NCR has shown consistent improvement this year. For January–November 2025, the region recorded its lowest average AQI in the last eight years (excluding 2020, the COVID lockdown year) at 187, down from 201 in 2024 and 213 in 2018.
The number of “Severe” air quality days has declined significantly, with only three days exceeding a daily average AQI of 400, compared with 11 in 2024 and 17 in 2021. No day in 2025 has reached the ‘Severe+’ level (AQI above 450).
Pollution indicators also improved: average PM2.5 concentration dropped to 85 micrograms per cubic metre, the lowest since 2018, while average PM10 levels fell to 183 micrograms per cubic metre, lower than 205 in 2024. Officials credited the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) for working with stakeholders to enforce pollution control measures and said efforts would continue to sustain and enhance these gains, reported news agency ANI.
Policy Updates:
The CAQM has revised the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) for NCR. Measures previously under GRAP Stage IV for ‘Severe’ AQI will now be implemented under GRAP Stage III. NCR state governments will determine office operations at 50 per cent capacity or work-from-home, while the Central Government may permit work-from-home for central employees.
According to ANI, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the BJP-run Delhi government of manipulating AQI data and failing to enforce pollution restrictions. He alleged that AQI readings of 500–700 were reported as 300–400 to avoid mandatory restrictions, allowing construction and other activities to continue despite GRAP-3 bans.
