MMRC launches discounted monthly passes, check details here

Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has launched exclusive discounted monthly passes on its MetroConnect3 mobile application, making it the first metro in India to offer a pass facility entirely through a mobile app, officials said.

Starting Friday, November 28, commuters on Mumbai Metro Line 3 can enjoy special discounts on trip-based passes: a 15 per cent discount on 60-trip passes and a 10 per cent discount on 45-trip passes, an official statement said.

The initiative aims to make daily travel more affordable while promoting convenient, contactless ticketing, it said.

The passes can be purchased, stored, and used directly from the MetroConnect3 app, eliminating the need for physical tickets. At present, the facility is available only through the app, though it will soon be extended to NCMC cards as well, it said.

“The MetroConnect3 app is available for download on both Android and iOS devices, allowing commuters to plan and pay for their metro journeys with ease,” an official said.

Meanwhile, last week, the MMRC had activated 25 per cent discounted trip passes for differently-abled passengers on the MetroConnect-3 app, officials said on Sunday, adding that the update is currently available only for iOS users, as it is still awaiting approval from Google. Once the update is approved, Android users will also be able to access the discount.

MMRC said the feature aims to make metro travel more affordable and convenient for differently-abled commuters. Passengers using Apple devices can start booking discounted trip passes immediately.

The MMRC assured Android users that the feature will be available soon and encouraged them to keep their MetroConnect-3 app updated for the latest version.

In a significant step towards ensuring an inclusive and accessible transit experience for all Metro Line-3 had earlier announced the introduction of a 25 per cent fare concession for passengers with disabilities.

The discount is aimed at making the metro system more affordable for persons with disabilities, officials had earlier stated.

The move is part of Mumbai Metro`s ongoing commitment to providing a more accessible and equitable travel experience for all its passengers, including those with special needs. The 25 per cent fare reduction is expected to benefit a large number of commuters with disabilities who rely on the metro as an essential mode of transport, officials said.
