New road to Mulund East to open in a month, easing daily traffic woes

In a move to provide major relief to Mulund residents suffering from daily heavy traffic congestion, an additional road to the existing sole entry point for Mulund East has finally received all approvals and will open for the public in a month’s time.

At present, there is only one entry point from the Eastern Express Highway to Mulund via Navghar Road, which is prone to major traffic jams during peak hours. The new road will link the Eastern Express Highway to Tata Colony, near Purvarang Society, a parallel road in the east.

mid-day has been following up the issue of congestion and jams at the only available entry point to Mulund east from the highway.

Confirming the development, local BJP MLA Mihir Kotecha said that all necessary approvals have been received for the construction of a 60-feet missing link connecting the Eastern Express Highway to Tata Colony, and the groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Sunday.

“Traffic congestion at MHADA Junction, Laxmibai School Junction, and Campus Hotel Junction is expected to reduce by nearly 60%. The road will be completed and opened for traffic within a month,” he said.
