Veteran actor Dharmendra is under observation and getting better; team clarifies

Veteran actor Dharmendra is all set to celebrate his 90th birthday on December 8. While the actor has always kept fans posted about his fitness routine and health updates, he left everyone concerned after he was hospitalised recently. Amid this, rumours were rife that the actor’s condition is critical and he is on a ventilator. However, sources close to him have dismissed these claims.

Veteran actor Dharmendra under observation

Earlier today, reports surfaced that the Sholay actor was hospitalised and is on a ventilator. However, his team has clarified that he is under observation and there is nothing to worry about. The sources also mentioned that he is recuperating and that such reports are rumour mongering, as always.

On October 31 as well, the actor was hospitalised for his routine check-up. His team had stated to Hindustan Times, “There is absolutely no cause for concern. The actor is in good health and visits the hospital often for routine medical tests, which is the reason for his current stay. It seems that someone spotted him there, which has led to a frenzy among his fans, but there is nothing to worry about as he is absolutely fine.”

An insider also suggested that it was, in fact, Dharmendra’s own decision to stay at the hospital to complete all his tests at once instead of travelling back and forth every day. “Dharmendra undergoes multiple routine tests that usually take around two to three days to complete. Given that he is 89, daily travel can be tiring at this age. Hence, he himself chose to stay at the hospital and finish all the tests at once instead of commuting back and forth each day,” sources said.

Dharmendra’s upcoming movies

On the work front, Dharmendra, who is turning 90 on December 8, will be seen in the film Ikkis. The biographical war drama stars Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda in the lead role alongside Simar Bhatia, niece of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who will be making her acting debut with the film. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the film also stars Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat in pivotal roles.

Ikkis is the untold true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra at just 21, honoured posthumously for his unmatched courage and sacrifice during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Produced by Maddock Films, Ikkis is set to release in December 2025.

Here’s wishing the actor a speedy recovery!
