The Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated the process of preparing fresh electoral rolls for the upcoming biennial elections to the Teachers’ and Graduates’ constituencies in Maharashtra. The voter registration process has commenced across five divisions — Pune, Nagpur, and Aurangabad for Graduates’ constituencies, and Pune and Amravati for Teachers’ constituencies.
According to the schedule announced by the ECI, applications submitted in Form 18 (for graduates) and Form 19 (for teachers) up to November 6, 2025, will be verified by the respective Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to determine eligibility. Following the verification process, the draft electoral rolls will be published on November 25, 2025.
Citizens will then be allowed to file claims and objections regarding the draft voter lists between November 25 and December 10, 2025. The ECI has also clarified that eligible graduates and teachers who miss the November 6 deadline can still apply for voter registration using the same forms during this period.
After the review of claims, objections, and late applications, the final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on December 30, 2025.
To simplify the registration process, the ECI has introduced an online facility for both graduates and teachers. Applicants can visit the official website — https://mahaelection.gov.in/Citizen/Login — to submit their voter registration forms digitally.
Detailed guidelines, eligibility criteria, and a list of required documents for voter registration are available under the “Manual” section on the same portal. The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Maharashtra has urged all eligible voters, especially new graduates and teachers who have not yet enrolled, to complete their registration at the earliest to ensure their inclusion in the electoral rolls.
The Teachers’ and Graduates’ constituency elections are a crucial part of the state’s legislative process, allowing educated sections of society to elect representatives to the Maharashtra Legislative Council. With the registration process now underway, officials expect a strong turnout of applications in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare on Tuesday said that the elections in 246 municipal councils and 42 nagar panchayats across Maharashtra are scheduled to take place on December 2, with counting of votes set for December 3.
Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Waghmare did not announce the election schedule for 29 municipal corporations, 32 zilla parishads, and 336 panchayat samitis, where polls are also due.
Polling will be conducted using electronic voting machines (EVMs) to elect 6,859 members and 288 presidents across the 246 municipal councils and 42 nagar panchayats on December 2, with votes counted on December 3. With the announcement of the poll schedule, the model code of conduct has come into effect in the respective municipal councils and nagar panchayats.
