A 23-year-old autorickshaw driver died after a private bus rammed into his vehicle under Vakola Bridge in Santacruz East in Mumbai on September 14 around 12.30 am.

The Kherwadi Police in Bandra have registered a first information report (FIR) against the unidentified bus driver under the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The complainant, 30-year-old Shravan Saha, who is also an autorickshaw driver, told the police that the victim, Nitishkumar Saha, was his cousin.

According to Saha, Nitishkumar was out on his duty like every other night.

Around 2.30 am, the Kherwadi Police called Saha to inform him that Nitishkumar’s rickshaw had been hit by a private bus at Hans Bhugra Junction and that he had been taken to Sion Hospital for treatment.

Saha immediately rushed to Sion Hospital. However, the doctors had pronounced Nitishkumar dead around 1.35 am after he had suffered a severe head injury.

Upon investigation at the accident site, Mumbai Police discovered that the bus hit Nitishkumar’s rickshaw, which was coming from the Kalina side, with great force. After the collision, the bus driver fled the scene without providing any help to Nitishkumar.
