17 passengers hurt after private bus loses control near steep slope in Palghar

At least 17 people were injured when a private bus (MH 14 BT 2341) met with an accident near Chauthyachi Wadi in Palghar District’s Jawhar area on Saturday morning. The incident occurred between 11.15 am and 11.30 am on the Jawhar–Aina route.

The bus was carrying 18 passengers at the time of the accident. Two of the passengers have sustained serious injuries and were shifted to a hospital in Nashik for immediate treatment. The remaining passengers received prompt medical attention on-site.

According to preliminary reports, the bus lost control while negotiating a steep slope near Chauthyachi Wadi. An oncoming vehicle forced the driver to steer aside, causing the bus to veer off the road and overturn.

The Jawhar depot manager, along with six transport superintendents and the transport inspector, responded to the incident. Jawhar Police reached the site promptly, and the divisional controller, mechanical engineer, and regional transport officer also visited to assess the situation.  

A detailed report into the accident will follow after further investigation.
